Vacation Day 4
“A vacation is like love - anticipated with pleasure, experienced with discomfort, and remembered with nostalgia. ~Author Unknown”
March 4:
This was a Sunday. Our first stop was Nassau, Bahamas. The only shore excursion that we scheduled was at this stop.
We took a glass bottom boat tour. We saw some of the higher end homes on Paradise Island. A lot of U.S. celebrities
own property here. From what I have read, if you purchase a home over $500,000 you get to become a citizen of this island right away.
Celebrities such as Elvis owned a home there. Nicholas Cage purchased that home. Oprah has a home there. I forget all of them.
The glass bottom boat was great, but hot. We decided after we got off the boat to take a water taxi over to Paradise Island to
go to the Atlantis Casino and resort to see their 1.2 million gallon aquarium and their devilray that is 11 foot across and just a
baby at 2 years old. When the devilray gets to be 33 foot across it will be released into the Atlantic via a helicoptor and a net.
Then they will find another to replace it. Yes there are pictures in the album below.
The aquarium glass looked to be about 8 inches thick. I was amazed by it. There were fish in there that ate algae and when it passed
through its system it became sand. Apparently it is a source of much of the white sand in that area. I could go on for days about that
aquarium. So thank me now for stopping. ;)
Another tourist attraction at the Atlantis Resort is the solid gold ceiling by the reception area. They either said 14 kt or 24kt I forget.
There are pictures of that also below.
I hope that you enjoy the pictures.
The pictures in the album below have the dates at the top of each page as well as where we were that day. Enjoy.
