Vacation Day 3

“A vacation is like love - anticipated with pleasure, experienced with discomfort, and remembered with nostalgia. ~Author Unknown”

March 3:

This was a Saturday. Lets start this day out where Friday ended. We went to dinner with friends, then back to the hotel to bs under the stars. Then another of our merry little bandwagon finally got in to Orlando with no ride to hotel. So two of us set out without our spouses, who went on to bed. By the time we returned to our hotel we came upon one side of our hotel being canvassed by police, to include police helicoptor as well as their K-9 unit.

Seems that a police officer pulled over someone for speeding. After handing his license off, the man decided he didn't want to wait for the ticket apparently. He backed into the police car narrowly missing the officer who was trying to throw the guy's car back in park. Shots were fired, the only casualty was the escapee's transmission. Fluid was visable via a trail down the street. Shell casings were visable down on the lot below our room. About that time I went to bed, being that the next day was a busy one. I am told that the gentleman was found and arrested and charges were pending. I do however wonder what my friends think of me booking a hotel where all this action took place. I know it wasn't the hotel's fault, nor mine. However I do wonder if they think I am a cupcake short of a picnic. Or if they were highly entertained

Got up early, went back to Orlando with the rental car, got ride back to hotel. The entourage has increased by one more. We all go to breakfast near the port at an IHOP. After eating, say good bye to four friends and we head to the ship with friend who took us on adventure day before.

When you prepare to board the ship you have to have passport or birth certificate and picture ID if birth certificate is used, May as well get used to it you will need passport by 2008, you will also need a credit card, bank card or $300 in cash as a deposit for services on board such as gratuities, beverages other then juices and milk. You will then get your Sail and Sign Pass and an individual picture taken. You will also go through security. Before you embark on the ship, you and your loved one can have a picture taken together. Don't worry, if you miss that chance there are literally dozens of others.

Once you are on board the only required activity is the Muster Drill. You go to your cabin and get your life jackets and go to your assigned muster station. Then you are led through the drill and to the lifeboats. After that your time is yours to do with as you please. Dinner is no shorts/tanks/etc Every night your waitstaff performs for you before dessert is served. The food is excellant. There is one formal night. Every night in your room, your stewards will leave a Carnival Caper (which lists excursions, specials, activities and shows), 2 mints and a towel animal.

There are activities for everyone all day and all evening. I can't wait to go again.

The pictures in the album below have the dates at the top of each page as well as where we were that day. Enjoy.
